28th January - Full Day excursion Torres Del Paine National Park

Leisurely rise this morning. Buffet breakfast in the dining room.

At 9 o’clock we met up with Josepha our guide for today. We had booked for an all-day driving tour of the National Park. Brilliant idea. Brilliant day. The weather was perfect. Clear day with no wind - what a bonus.

Fabulous day going from one end of the park to the other stopping off at all sorts of interesting viewpoints along the way, including the lookout overlooking the Rio Serrano - our hotel is the one with the green roof.

The green roofs of our hotel and the area of Rio Serrano.

You can just see the large Graya Glacier from the lookout...

Our only condor sighting...

Our first view of the three towers...

Very soon after entering the park we spotted our first animal...guanaco with their young

Then lucky to spot flying flamingoes! (Josepher has a bird spotting hobby and had a very nice Birds of Chile book and she let us borrow it so that we could identify the birds that we were seeing while here)

and swans...

At lunchtime, Josepher told us that we should explore the lake shore while she got our picnic organised.

Boy were we surprised when we got into the 'Cafe'

Josepha explained how the top of this mountain looks just like a male Condor with its crest.

Josepher sharing a mate with the driver ..

Not fire danger warnings buy high wind warnings ... we felt we were being blown away and it was on green!

Josepher took these 2 Guanaco images for Linda

Consume Calafate and you will be back to Chile
