Day 4 Buenos Aires to Iguazu

No sleep-in today – Bill woke with a croaky voice.

Laura collected us at 6am to take us to catch our early flight to Iguazu.

After we checked in we sat at the gate and while waiting to board Heidi started backing up her photos. In the rush to catch a bus to the plane she accidently clicked update and shut down on her laptop….so spent the whole way to the plane on the bus holding it slightly open so that it would continue the update uninterrupted.

The flight was uneventful – no meal/snacks just drinks.

Gorgeous Daniella collected us and gave us tips about Iguazu and Argentina on the drive to the Jardin de Iguazu.

As soon as we checked in and dumped our belongings in our rooms we went in search of a restaurant in town (our hotel was central and close to shops and eateries).

Finding a Mexican restaurant not too far down the road we all ate Quesadillas (avoiding salads – being cautious about microbial pathogens).

We then set off on a long hot adventure to find the Hito Tres Fronteras – the junction of the Iguazu and Parana Rivers where the three countries Paraguay, Brasil, and Argentina meet.

The Obelisk in centre of this platform is one of three that are placed in each country near the Hito Tres Fronteras

After exploring the area we sought sanctuary in the airconditioned El Hito Restaurant, a welcome respite and cold drink. When Tejal took a while to return from the toilet we found out that she had been locked in – thankfully the lady in the cubicle beside her notified the waiter.

In true Linda style, we returned to town via an alternative Route along the river and then her insatiable appetite for seeing everything saw her walk along what Heidi thought was a very rickety gangway (and calling out NO MUM) that ended up being the walkway to the boat to cross into Brasil.

We walked back to the Panoramic Grand Hotel where they allowed us to go up to the Spa to watch the sunset.

They were very proud of the food presentation and service!

Tejal’s second Pisco Sour has now set the benchmark for all Pisco Sours from now on.

We are starting to get used to tipping and the amounts to tip.

The Argentinian Wine Bill chose for dinner.
