Day 6 Iguazu 35 Degrees Celsius to Ushuaia 2 Degrees Celsius

Traveling to the bottom of the earth - so exciting you couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces!

On the way to the Airport, our Transfer Guide - Danielle told us about a common tradition for Birthdays in Argentina is to put a candle on a yummy treat called Alfajores (chocolate-covered sandwich biscuit with Dulce de Leche).

On the way to Iguazu Tejal and Linda were only just over the leeway that the staff member that checked us in would allow over 15kgs so they had to pay $10 USD. So when we went past a shop that looked like it may have had a bag that they could buy to use as carry on they would check them out but we didn't find anything that was cheap or appropriate.

Mum managed to fit some heavier stuff out of her checked-in bag this time to put it in her carry-on prior to boarding and she ended up having the lightest bag!

Was strange going from a very hot humid Iguazu to a cold dry Ushuaia in a few hours.

Heidi was lucky enough to have a great view of the falls as we headed out of Iguazu just after take-off.

We had to travel through Buenos Aires, on that leg we sat beside very friendly people that were on a tour headed to a cruise. As soon as we landed in BA we had only a short time before our flight to Ushuaia was boarding. Again Heidi had some great views landing and taking off in Buenos Aires. The first photo you can see Evita on the Public Works building...

...and then the women's bridge...

We had no food on the first flight and then a very small snack bar on the second - no lunch for the day but Mum ran to the Alfajores shop to buy us a treat before boarding in Buenos Aires. So our lunch was the small snack bar a muesli bar that Tejal had shared with us all and our Alfajores!

Our first sighting and photo of Penguins ... yes those blurry small black and white blobs are in fact Penguins.

It had just snowed so the snow-capped mountains were magic to see while coming in for landing.

We were like big kids - so excited!

When we landed at 8:00PM it was still very bright. Our Transfer driver took this photo for us. It was raining when we arrived but not enough to be a hinderance.

We dumped our bags in the lovely rooms and headed to a seafood restaurant - Cantina de Freddy where the gorgeous lady at the front desk had recommended we try.

Local beers - Cape Horn, yummy food - Paella and seafood stew, and great service at a VERY busy restaurant.

Passed these gorgeous flowers on the short walk back to the hotel.

Very tired but still excited about being so close to our Antarcita expedition we all had quite a late night.

View from the Breakfast room on the top floor of our hotel.
