25th January El Charlton to Lago Del Desierto
Linda was not well this morning so after Tejal Heidi and Bill ate breakfast Tejal and Heidi prepared for a wet day walking through the forest.
Fortunately, there was some antinausea medication in with the medication supply from Dr Deb the Travel Dr, so by having the Ondansetron Linda was able to suppress the vomiting. Bill volunteered to stay behind with Linda for the day.
The drive out to the lake was beautiful even though we couldn't see the snow-capped mountains.
The shuttle service had short commentary which was in Spanish and English about the National Park. A couple of points of interest were the fact that only two types of trees and neither of them have deep roots so in storms there were quite a few fallen in various parts of the drive. The Lake is right beside the border with Chile and Argentina built infrastructure and population to retain the land in its fight with Chile.
As we drove over and beside the river we were surprised and a little concerned about the fact that the road was very close to the river and it was still raining...
Once we arrived we were happy to find a shelter so that we could eat our 'lunchbox' that we ordered from the hotel.
On our return, we were surprised to see a fire sign set at Extreme fire danger.
We then sought refuge in the restaurant with hot drinks. We met a couple of young ladies from France who are traveling around Argentina between internships.
On the return trip in the shuttle, the water was well over the road in several spots and the sun started to peak between the clouds so we got even better views.
